Bruce Reitherman
Bruce is son of Disney Legend Wolfgang “Woolie” Reitherman, respected, prolific and influential member of Walt’s “Nine Old Men.” Among other Disney classics, WooliedirectedWinnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree and The Jungle Book. Bruce performed the character voices of Christopher Robin and Mowgli in those two 1960s classics.
But Bruce’s experience withrabbit holes and bare necessities didn’t stop there. After his graduation from U.C. Berkeley in 1977, his passion for the outdoors drew him deep into the natural world as heenjoyed stints working as a river guide, field biologist, naturalist and expedition leader. Then, during a period spanning two decades, he would visit six continents, producing and/or shooting more than twenty prime-time television nature documentaries broadcast by the BBC, PBS, National Geographic and others, earning a reputation for artful programs that garnered some of the Industry’s most coveted awards.
The birth of his daughter in 2003 compelled Bruce to work closer to home, and to refocus his interests on local environmental protection and conservation.Since 2015, Bruce has served as Conservation Director of the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of that region’s wildlife habitat, openspace and agricultural heritage.He resides on California’s Central Coast, with his wife, artist Erika Hill, their daughter Camilla, and the family’s frisky pooch, Hobart.
